CUSTOMIZED JEWELRIES AND PIECES

All the jewelries of the collection, and the customized jewelries, are handmade in our studio located in Santiago, Chile. We follow artisanal manufacturing processes, making each jewel from scratch, casting and manipulating different materials. The handmade nature of our work makes every piece unique, even when using the same design. This way of working allows us to pay attention to every detail of the jewel and gives us the possibility to personalize each creation.

The jewelries of Maike Siegel are made from 950 sterling silver or 18k gold. We do not make gold-plated pieces because these finishes are temporary and wear away shortly after. Our gemstones are wide-ranging and come from different parts of the world: Brazil, Colombia, USA, Australia, Thailand, Afghanistan and Russia, among others. We use tourmalines, emeralds, sapphires, rubies, morganites, aquamarines, diamonds, opals, turquoises, amazonite, moonstone, and others, each one of them standing out for its own individual attributes. Micro mosaic is made with “smalti”, colored glasses coming from Venice (Italy), which are hand made in seven basic tints. We cast and mix them in order to create the colors and threads inserted in each piece.

The catalog is available on our website and social networks (Instagram, and Facebook), where we regularly publish our latest creations. If you would like to see our designs in person, you can send us an e-mail to info@maikesiegel.com and we will schedule an appointment at our studio. You can also visit us in upcoming markets or pop-ups where we will be participating.

Our inventory is constantly renewing, so we might have new pieces that are not yet on the website. You can visit our Instagram account @maikesiegel, where the content is updated including all the pieces available. It may be that a piece shown in the web is no longer available; however, you can place a special order and we will make it for you.

Yes, we would love to create a project together. Please contact us through our website, social networks or e-mail us to info@maikesiegel.com. In the section “Orders and Delivery” you will find all the necessary details.

Yes, we can make changes. If you like a design, but want something different, like another micro mosaic composition, a larger or smaller gemstone, a different color or shape, please send us an E-mail or contact us through our social networks and tell us about your preferences.

You can make inquiries without any obligations. We will first define the characteristics of the piece and then send you a budget of your design. Once the design and the price are established, you decide if you want the work to be done.

Yes, we would love to make your engagement or wedding rings. Please contact us at info@maikesiegel.com and we will go through your ideas and define the details together. With regard to engagement or wedding rings, we require a delivery period of at least 30 days to complete the manufacturing process. You should consider that this time could slightly increase in the event of having to purchase a specific gemstone. As for wedding rings, if you wish, we can first make the rings in silver to verify their size and shape, and then make them in gold.

In order to figure out your ring size, you have different options: you can simply measure the inner diameter of any ring that fits you. If you do not have a ring available, you can measure your finger’s diameter with a measuring tape or use a strip of paper of approximately 1 cm wide, and mark the area where the two ends of the paper strip meet. Then measure the circumference of your finger and write it down in millimeters. Please consider that the size of your finger can change during the day, according to your activities and the weather. You should also consider that wide rings are more fitted, you may require a larger size; and narrow rings have a larger size margin. If a ring seems a little big or small, we recommend that you use it a couple of days to get used to it before asking for a size change.

In general, yes, but you should check it out before buying the piece. For example, in micro mosaic pieces we cannot reduce the size after completion, because we cannot apply heat to them. If you bought a wrong-sized ring for you or as a gift, you have 30 days to ask for a size change. If the piece allows it, we will make this modification with no extra cost. You will only have to pay the delivery costs, if necessary.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR JEWELS

In order to prevent your jewels from deteriorating too soon, we recommend the following:

  • Wear your jewels after bathing, or applying cream, lotions, perfume and makeup, in order to avoid the exposure to chemicals and oils that darken the metals and gemstones.
  • Do not wear your rings or bracelets while doing rough manual work, such as exercises or activities requiring the use of tools. This will prevent the piece from suffering unexpected impacts or excessive friction.
  • Rings are susceptible to touch harder surfaces, for example, weights in the gym, knifes and pots, door handles, keys, etc.
  • Do not wear the jewels while swimming in the pool or the sea. The salt and cleaning chemicals may darken the metal and gemstones.
  • Avoid contact with corrosive chemicals such as chlorine bleach; they can affect the color of the metal and damage the jewels.
  • It is important to keep the jewelry in a proper box or soft-textured jewelry bag, to avoid contact with each other and prevent scratches in metals and gemstones.

The glass pieces of the micro mosaic are inserted in a very resistant stucco, manufactured to last for generations. They should not be exposed to humidity nor immersed in water. If they get wet, we suggest you wipe them with paper towel or warm air (hand or hair dryer). Additionally, you should not expose the mosaic to extreme heat, since it can crack the stucco.

Some gemstones are more fragile than others, for example, opals and turquoises. The latter, for example, should not be cleaned with a brush, but with a soft cloth or even with your finger. Opals can easily crack or get damaged due to extreme temperature changes and impacts. Pearls should be stored separately from other objects to prevent surface scratches. The gemstones’ exposure to heat and chemicals is not recommended. Cleaning the stones from time to time can also help to avoid the accumulation of oils and other substances.

Immerse the jewel in a solution of warm water and pH-neutral soap for 5 minutes. Then, clean it gently with a soft toothbrush to remove surface stains and dirt. Rinse with warm water and dry with a hair dryer or similar, or use a cotton or microfiber cloth. Never use rigid elements to remove the dirt from gemstones, they can damage the settings, the stones and the metal. The pieces with micro mosaics should not be immersed in water, you can clean them with a cotton cloth and a bit of alcohol, if necessary.

If you have any further question, please contact us and we will be delighted to help you.
